Lourdes is mainly the sanctuaries around the grotto of Massabielle and the different museums which bear witness to the life of Bernadette Soubirous (Sainte Bernadette Museum, Moulin de Boly, le Cachot). There are several other centres of interest such as: Le Château Fort (the Fortified Castle), the Pyrenean Museum, the Museum pf Lourdes, les Halles (covered market) with a rich selection of regional products, le Pic du Jer overlooking the city of Lourdes, the lake of Lourdes and its golf course. Last but not least, it is certainly worth going for a walk, hike or bike ride through the Coulée Verte (the green pathway) that goes as far as Argeles-Gazost surrounded by lush greenery.

Lourdes is set at the foot of the Pyrenees, right at the beginning of the VALLEE DES GAVES.

On the way to ARGELES-GAZOST, there are sumptuous landscapes overlooking the valley to discover: To the west, the VAL D'AZUN and the lakes of ESTAING and TECH, the passes of SOULOR and AUBISQUE and further the lake of ARTOUSTE and the pass of POURTALET (border with Spain). From CAUTERETS you can reach the PONT D'ESPAGNE and the lake of GAUBE. The valley of LUZ ST SAUVEUR leads to the great CIRQUE DE GAVARNIE and TROUMOUSE; To the east if you go up towards HAUTACAM there is a breathtaking panoramic view over the Argelès-Gazost valley and the neighbouring mountains. Luz St Sauveur is known to be the starting point of the famous TOURMALET ascent during the Tour de France. (a major stage and also the Mecca of the Tour).

Heading towards BAGNERES de BIGORRE, you will discover the valley of ADOUR, from which you can altogether reach the Tourmalet by following the eastern hillside, the PIC du MIDI de BIGORRE and the observatory, the Aspin pass and the Aure Valley.

At the foothills of the Pyrenees, there are interesting and charming towns well worth a visit, among which TARBES (Haras National -equestrian centre- the Massy Garden…), PAU (Henry IV Castle, the Bernadotte Museum, and an amazing panoramic view over the Pyrenees from the main boulevard).

Still in the neighbouring area, there are other sites and places also worth seeing such as: the MAUVEZIN castle, ST BETRAND de COMMINGES, the JURANCON and the MADIRAN vineyards.

A little further west, the BASQUE COUNTRY stretches out before you from BIARRITZ (beautiful sandy beaches, the Sea Museum…) to SAINT JEAN de LUZ (a charming and nice little fishing port) or SAINT JEAN PIED DE PORT featuring an ancient walled city with XVI century houses.

Taking Lourdes as a starting point, cyclists have a wide range of routes; from the discovery of la Vallée des Gaves following the Coulée Verte (actually an old railway converted into a path for cyclists, rollers and walkers) to the famous passes used by the Tour de France: Aubisque, Soulor, Aspin, or Tourmalet.
The several marked mountain bike routes start already at the outskirts of Lourdes. As you ride along the Green Path (la Voie Verte) you can follow the way towards Argelès-Gazost Valley, or dare the climb to the Pic du Jer and admire the view of Lourdes from atop, or take the Henry 4th path that leads to the northern part of the city.
We have bicycle storage facilities for your bikes and equipment.
We offer bicycle and mountain bike rental service on site.
The area is particularly and ideally suitable for rides on a motorbike. From Lourdes following the mountainous paths, you will discover breathtaking landscapes, and from the Vallée des Gaves (The Gaves Valley), you can ride up to the passes of Soulor and Aubisque taking the cliff road of the Cirque du Litor and continuing as far as the Spanish border. It is worth following the superb scenic road that leads to the Tourmalet pass and goes on to the Aspin pass and the Aure Valley. The roads that lead to the famous sites of the area (le Cirque de Gavarnie, le Pont d'Espagne, les lacs d'Estaing or du Tech, le Pic du Midi de Bigorre and more eastwards to the Basque Country…) will allow you to discover a preserved nature and typical and traditional wonderful rural villages where it is nice to stop for a fresh drink.
We offer a secure, closed and covered garage with small prices for our guests with motorbikes
Hikes and walks are our region's great asset; from Lourdes "la Voie Verte des Gaves" (the green path along the Gave River) opens up onto the lush green valley of Argelès-Gazost and its surrounding peaks worth admiring. The Pic du Jer, directly accessible from the city, offers a stunning 360-degree view over Lourdes and on the Pyrenees. Mountain lovers, little ones or grown-ups, will enjoy walking and hiking on flat ground in Hautacam, around the Estaing Lake or the Cirque de Troumousse; for those who dare and are able, they can climb up till the Pibeste Peak or the "Gaube Lake" further up the Pont d'Espagne. We will glad to share our lovely country with you.
